All of you Opera Mini and Opera Turbo fans out there know that one of the best features of Opera is data savings. The way we make Opera load web pages so fast is by compressing the actual data contained in a web page by up to 90%.
We introduced the data compression technology to our browsers back in 2006, and since then we've shaved off billions and billions of unnecessary data bytes. This surplus data, of course, has to be stored somewhere. The potentiokinetic data is quickly flooding our data centers. Potentiokinetic data comes from a corollary to the first law of thermodynamics: no information bits can be created or deleted, just transferred to another storage solution.
Our servers are getting full these days. Can you help us store some of the data? First we tried to solve this problem ourselves. We tried offloading the excess data onto secondary storage materials, using everything from external hard disks to CD-ROMs. But this solution just created problems of its own. As you can see, all of our workstations here in Oslo have become extremely cluttered as a result.
