It's not every day that you come across a game with a title that could be read so many different ways. I won't even go into the various ways to interpret it, but suffice it to say the name doesn't lie. Because epic and hilarious titles are so few and far between, I had to take it upon myself to check things out.
A Game With Balls (AGWB from here on in) is a simple if not hypnotic game, where all you do is control a cannon that shoots balls at things that're careening towards it, ushering in its demise. Your projectiles aren't explosive and the things you're shooting at don't explode. Rather, you just nudge them out of the way.
It's got that oft-used "physics game" feel to it, with your balls bouncing off the balls you're shooting at and those balls flying around knocking other balls off target. You can string together some impressive combos, if you've got enough foresight (or you're lucky), shooting a stream at one object only to have them all bounce off and knock another one off course.
You get points based off of how long you survive and how many balls you shoot. These points are in the form of, you guessed it, more balls, that you can then use to unlock one of the other four levels. There's also three difficulty levels to choose from, ranging from normal to insane.
The different levels all have the same game mechanics, but the color schemes and music change, offering a fresh-yet-familiar experience no matter what level you're on. The background music is incredible, too, sucking you into this semi-hypnotic trance as you try to protect your cannon.
AGWB is a totally rad buy, good for killing a few minutes in between classes or a few hours when you find yourself with nothing to do. Cool music, great visuals, and mad replayability are just a couple of reasons to be fine with spending 99 cents on this game.
